My take on perks becoming available for money only:
Battlegrounds got all its audience while being completely free to play. The player that didn't spend money on anything had absolutely no disadvantage gameplay wise. It's sad to see this line being crossed. (1/3)

I did some math for the difference between 2 or 4 hero choices based on statistics of the top 50%(6200+) range on @HSReplayNet.
